Medicinal Herbs

Chile has an unusual geography. Nestled in the southwestern corner of South America, Chile is a long and narrow strip of land -4,300 kilometers long and an average of 190 kilometers wide.

Throughout Its territory, Chile boasts an array of climates, and salts, and is thus ideally suited for a number of tree and fruit species. These advantageous natural conditions serve to support the proliferation of a variety of natural spices and medicinal and aromatic herbs.

Chile 's agricultural region is protected by natural barriers consisting of the Atacama Desert to the north, Patagonia to the south, the Andes Mountains to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

These climatic characteristics and natural isolation, combined with continuous research and the use of advanced technology, make Chile an auspicious location for the production of contaminant-free medicinal herbs that boast high phytosanitary standards and correct concentrations of active components, making them suitable for use in the pharmaceutical industry.

Furthermore, skilled, dedicated entrepreneurs from Chile 's Regions vi, vii and viii have joined forces to form the Medicinal Herb Committee. With the active support of the Export Promotion Bureau ProChile, the committee has orchestrated the preparation of this catalogue with a view toward exporting the nation's medicinal herb products.
